The 12th season takes us on one final trip around world even though filming was ongoing when the television personality died on June 8, 2018. Now, CNN says goodbye to Anthony Bourdain as it airs the final episode of Parts Unknown.
Anthony Bourdain was the host of the Peabody-and-Emmy-award-winning CNN Original Series, Parts Unknown. Now, in its 12th and final season, the show had explored topics around food, travel, culture and creativity mainly, drawing inspiration from Bourdain's passion for culinary diversity.
Bourdain was an American celebrity chef, author, travel documentarian, and television personality who grew up in the Lower East Side of New York, where the final episode focuses on. Though most of the episodes had been focused on international culture and cuisine, subsequent episodes have been less and less about food and more about the human condition.
Lower East Side had little to do with the place but more about the extraordinary people living in the place where Bourdain spent his childhood and struggled with drug addiction. The show comes full circle taking us down memory lane to where the late host was born.
The paradox of the farewell episode peaked when the host sits down, in the modest home of artist John Lurie, to eat two hard boiled eggs, which were the last things he ate on camera.

Bourdain had also visited Nigeria in 2017 for the 10th season of Parts Unknown. He had drinks at Rue 80 at Maison Fahrenheit Hotel with Shina Peller and Banky W, enjoyed peppersoup at Iya Eba with Kadaria Ahmed, and ate pounded yam and egusi soup at Stella's Kitchen in Computer Village with Tunji Andrews.
With food bloggers, Ozoz Sokoh and Atim Ukoh, he explored ewedu, jollof rice and goat meat at Yakoyo restaurant. At the New Afrika Shrine, he had lunch with Femi, Seun and Yeni Kuti.
Bourdain also visited the Chieftaincy Council of Hausa Community in Agege where he ate masa, fura, dan wake, moringa salad and kuli kuli with Alhaji Musa Muhammadu Dogonkadai, Sarkin Hausawan Agege.
